About Finn (富林)

Finn (富林) Knight is a Deerfield Academy graduate and a current student of international politics and economics at Middlebury College. Born and raised in New Haven in the heart of Yale University , he has spent his entire life immersed in exceptional academic communities and now channels that background into mentoring the next generation of students.

Finn’s mentorship extended deeply into campus life. As a senior dorm proctor, peer tutor, cheerleader and Big Brothers Big Sisters mentor, he became a steady and reliable presence for younger students navigating boarding school life. He also founded and/or led several student clubs, including DA Tourneys, Deerfield Special Olympics, Deerfield Thrift Shop, and created the annual Deerfield Dorm Olympics. He is passionate about creating opportunities for community-building and student engagement.

At Deerfield, Finn distinguished himself not only as a trusted leader but as an excellent student. Taking Chinese language since the third grade, he completed Deerfield's most advanced Chinese course and excelled in rigorous classes such as Honors Environmental Science and American Studies. Beyond the classroom, he was a seven-time team captain across JV soccer, squash, and tennis.

Finn was an assistant teacher at Horizons at the Foote School for three summers where he worked with all ages teaching math and English. He also served on the junior board for Horizons organizing events throughout the year and

As a Founder, Finn brings his combination of leadership, mentorship, enthusiasm and cross-cultural insight to Mentors Opening Doors. He takes pride in getting to know each student and offers his firsthand knowledge of elite boarding school and college culture, deep institutional understanding, and a student-centered approach that helps students flourish once they are there.
